The kids got in on the action too! 🎣🔥 Troy’s crew put together a great morning on Lake Lanier, catching close to 20 stripers while working river swings near humps.
Troy brought his kids and a group of friends out with Lake Lanier Striper Snipers today, and they picked a pretty good day to go fishing.
The crew ended up catching close to 20 striped bass, with plenty of action throughout the morning and some quality Lake Lanier stripers mixed in. More importantly, everybody had a good time, especially the kids. That is always one of my favorite parts about running these trips — watching somebody catch a striper and seeing everybody on the boat get excited when another rod goes down.
River Swings Near Humps Were the Key
Every fish we caught today came from river swings located close to humps.
Instead of finding one giant school and sitting on it all morning, we caught fish in several different areas that had the same basic ingredients: the main river channel swinging close to good structure, with humps nearby giving the stripers another place to push bait and feed.
That pattern has been very consistent lately.
During the summer, Lake Lanier’s striped bass spend a lot of time relating to the deeper river channel and the structure immediately around it. River bends and swings can concentrate baitfish, and when one of those swings passes close to a hump, point, ditch, or similar piece of structure, it creates an area that is always worth checking.
Today was a perfect example.
We would move to another river swing, find the right group of fish, get the baits down, and the rods would start going off.
Nearly 20 Stripers and Plenty of Smiles
Troy’s crew caught close to 20 stripers before it was all said and done.
There were good fish caught by the adults, good fish caught by the kids, and plenty of opportunities for everybody on the boat to get involved.
That is the kind of morning I like to see.
Summer striper fishing can change quickly from one day to the next. Sometimes you find hundreds of fish that refuse to eat, and other mornings you get around the right group and everything comes together.
Today, they wanted to cooperate.

I currently have Wednesday and Friday available for guided Lake Lanier striper fishing trips.
There is also a possibility that Saturday morning will become available. I am checking with my Saturday afternoon group first to see if they would prefer the morning trip before I open that slot.
