About Me

About Lake Lanier Striper Snipers

The biggest mistake my dad ever made was putting a Snoopy fishing rod in my hands when I was knee high to a bulldog. From that moment on, fishing became an obsession.

Growing up, we lived just a two-minute walk through the woods from the lake, and I spent every chance I got chasing fish. I started out catching bream and using worms to catch anything that would bite. My dad also took me to a catfish pay lake almost every weekend as a kid, and that’s where I learned about big flatheads and blue cats and developed a passion for trophy fish.

When we moved to Lake Lanier, I carried that same obsession with me. I would get off the school bus and head straight to the lake every single day. Over the years, I became skilled at catching catfish, making my own carp bait, and learning how to target bass and striped bass from the bank by fishing points and studying fish movement.

I’ve now been fishing Lake Lanier regularly for around 38 years and guiding professionally for 7 years.

I currently compete in the Striped Bass Challenge, the largest striper tournament series in the Southeast, against some of the best striper fishermen in the region. Last season I finished 5th overall in points, and I was one strong finish away from Team of the Year standings. Over the last year alone, I’ve caught at least 30 striped bass over 20 pounds.

Teaching people how to catch stripers is one of the things I enjoy most, especially teaching kids. Since I learned striper fishing at such a young age myself, there’s nothing better than watching someone catch their first big fish and seeing that excitement firsthand.

I specialize in planer boards, down rods, and free lines, and I run top-quality equipment to give clients the best possible experience on the water. My boat is equipped with Shimano Tekota line counter reels, dual 12-inch fish finders, and a 115-pound thrust Minn Kota Instinct Quest trolling motor to stay on fish and maximize every trip.

Whether you are an experienced angler looking to learn advanced techniques or a family wanting to create memories on Lake Lanier, my goal is always the same: work hard, teach what I know, and put people on fish.

I love teaching, I love talking fishing, and I love sharing my passion with anyone who enjoys being on the water.
