Today I had a great group in the boat, and Lake Lanier showed out.
The action started early, and once we found the right school, it was game on. We ended up with 2 quads, 2 doubles, and numerous singles, making for one of those trips where it was hard to keep enough rods in the water. Every time we'd get baits back down, another one would load up.
The fish were set up over deep water relating to the timber. Once I found the bait and marked them on the electronics, it didn't take long before they fired. The sonar screenshots tell the story—big schools of bait with stripers stacked right underneath.
Several quality fish came over the rail, including multiple fish in the mid-teen class, and everyone on board got in on the action. That's exactly the kind of trip you hope for during the summer pattern.
Fishing Tip of the Day:
Don't just look for fish—look for bait first. The bait is what keeps the stripers in an area. When you find a large concentration of bait with fish set up underneath it, stay patient. Those schools may not bite immediately, but when they do, things can get hectic in a hurry.
