Meet the Captain Behind Lake Lanier Striper Snipers
Captain Matthew Haynes is the owner and guide behind Lake Lanier Striper Snipers. He has spent 38 years fishing Lake Lanier and the past 7 years professionally guiding families, beginners, returning clients, and serious anglers in search of striped bass.
From a Snoopy Rod to a Life on Lake Lanier
Matthew’s love of fishing started when he was knee-high to a bullfrog with a Snoopy fishing rod in his hands. Growing up only a couple of minutes from the lake gave him every opportunity to fish, learn, and develop the passion that eventually became Lake Lanier Striper Snipers.
He spent years fishing from the bank, visiting catfish pay lakes, learning seasonal patterns, and studying how weather, water temperature, bait, structure, and changing lake conditions affect fish. That lifetime of experience now helps his clients enjoy safer, more productive days on the water.
Experience, Teaching, and Controlled Chaos
Captain Matthew’s goal is simple: work hard, teach what he knows, and put people on fish. He enjoys helping first-time anglers learn the basics just as much as he enjoys helping experienced fishermen chase their next trophy.
A day with Lake Lanier Striper Snipers may include screaming drags, doubles, triples, big fish, tangled lines, plenty of laughs, and the controlled chaos that makes striper fishing unforgettable. Matthew handles the bait, tackle, electronics, boat positioning, and fishing plan so his guests can focus on enjoying the experience.
A Proven Lake Lanier Striper Guide
Captain Matthew has competed successfully in striped bass tournaments, earned strong finishes across multiple tournament series, and caught trophy stripers on Lake Lanier and throughout the Southeast. His experience comes from decades of time on the water—not from following a one-size-fits-all fishing plan.
Every trip is adjusted to the current season, weather, water conditions, bait movement, and the needs of the guests aboard the boat.
